Austrian-born Nigerian forward Chukwubuike Adamu scored for RB Salzburg in their 1-1 drawn game against Bayern Munich in the last-16 of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The 20-year-old was on target for the Austrian champions in the 21st minute at the Red Bull Arena, before Kingsley Coman rescued a draw late on for the German Bundesliga champions in a 1-1 encounter.

Adamu started the game from the bench and he was introduced in the 12th minute to replace his compatriot Noah Okafor who sustained an injury.

He wasted no time as he netted the opener with a delightful curling finish into the corner, nine minutes after his introduction.

The youngster could have nicked a second for the home side but his rebound from Karim Adeyemi's shot was timely blocked.

Adamu and his teammates cruising to a famous victory over the German champions until winger Coman ghosted in at the far post in the 90th minute and converted following Thomas Muller's flick.

The game ended 1-1 with the return fixture scheduled for the Allianz Arena next month.

Chukwubuike Adamu has previously been linked to a Southampton and Monaco amid an impressive start to his European career in Austria.

Born in Kano State in Nigeria, Adamu has spent majority of his life in Austria, where he began his football journey as a 12-year old at GSV Wacker Youth.

One year later, he was spotted by Salzburg who signed him on a long-term deal.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona's invincibility this summer came to an end following their 2-1 defeat to RB Salzburg in a preseason friendly at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, August 4.

The Catalans failed to make it four wins in four games as they continue to build up towards the new season as they were caged by the Austrian Premier League outfit.

Ronald Koeman's threatened their hosts in the early minutes of the opening half but most of their chances went way off target.
