A member of Ghana's 2010 World Cup team, John Painstil, has suggested that the Ghana Football Association appoints Kwesi Appiah as coach of the Black Stars for the game against Nigeria.

The Black Stars are without a coach ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles in March.

And John Painstil feels the clock is ticking as the GFA continues its search for a new coach, while Kwesi Appiah is available for the role.

"There’s no time at all on our side, I think they should appoint a coach who’s seen it all, Coach Kwesi Appiah is one of the coaches who can handle the Ghana and Nigeria game," he said on GTV Sports Plus.

Kwesi Appiah led the Black Stars to the World Cup in 2014, after famously trouncing Egypt 6-1 in Kumasi in the play-offs of the qualifiers.

The former Ghana and Asante Kotoko player has had two spells with the Black Stars, with his last spell ending during the 2021 AFCON qualifiers. The veteran gaffer has since been inactive.

John Painstil played at two World Cups, in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.

John Painstil reveals which country between Ghana and Nigeria will qualify to Qatar

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a member of Ghana's 2010 World Cup team, John Painstil, has picked the team that will make it to Qatar 2022 between the Black Stars and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Ghana have been drawn against their perennial rivals Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers players slated for March 2022.

Painstil, who played for the Black Stars between 2001 to 2013, is confident Ghana will edge Nigeria for a place in this year's FIFA World Cup.
