- The 21-year-old midfielder has been torn between club and country after he was named in the Ghana team despite being unfit
- However, it has been reported he will be making his Africa Cup of Nations debut in Cameroon
The Black Stars of Ghana have been handed a huge boost following reports Ajax star Mohammed Kudus will finally join camp for the rest of the Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
The 21-year-old had initially been declared unfit and was not going to be released by Ajax for the tournament.
However, multiple reports indicate the midfielder showed positive signs at the club's mid-season camp in Portugal, allowing the Dutch giants to give him the green light to play for the Black Stars.
Kudus has been out of action since November 14, 2021 when he hobbled off after ten minutes of Ghana's World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Cape Coast.
The former Ghana U20 star has been an integral member of the senior national team since making his debut against South Africa in an AFCON qualifier in 2019.
However, injuries have plagued his availability for the country and even his club Ajax.
His arrival is seen as good news for the four times African champions, who lacked some spark in their defeat to Morocco in the opening Group C game on Monday.
It is likely Kudus will make his AFCON debut in Ghana's next game against Gabon on Friday, January 14, exactly two months since he played competitively.
The Black Stars need to beat the Panthers of Gabon to stand any chance of progressing to the next stage of the tournament.
