  • Milovan Rejevac has been left unhappy with the FIFA directive which allowed players to join camp on January 3
  • According to Rajevac, the decision has affected preparations with most of his trainings having only seven to eight players in attendance
  • Ghana lost their pre-AFCON friendly 3-0 to African champions Algerian on Wednesday

Head coach of the senior national team of Ghana, Milovan Rajevac has blamed FIFA's decision to allow players join camp on January 3, for the team's haphazard preparations.

FIFA extended the date for players to arrive in camp from December 28 to January 3, just six days to AFCON following reluctance by clubs to release players.

Milovan Rajevac, in an interview with the Ghana Football Association's media explained the directive affected preparations.

"Unfortunately this decision from FIFA to allow players to stay in their clubs in this period affected our plans for the preparation since most of the time we didn’t have many players to work with," said Rajevac.
"Many training sessions we had 7 or 8 players and 3 goalkeepers so it’s very difficult to do some tactical work to prepare the team the way we planned in the beginning."

Although, the Black Stars opened camp about three weeks ago, the Serbian trainer only had the full compliment of his squad this week.

Some players arrived just a day to the team's pre-AFCON friendly against Algeria, a game the Black Stars lost 3-0.

The Black Stars will leave Qatar on Friday for Cameroon, where the Africa Cup of Nations will be held.

Ghana opens her AFCON campaign with a game against Morocco on Monday, January 10, 2022.
