Ghanaian Teen Earns Player of the Month Nomination in England

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is in contention for the February Player of the Month award in the English Premier League II.

The 19-year-old English-born Ghanaian impressed last month, scoring three goals as Crystal Palace ended the month unbeaten.

Crystal Palace confirmed his nomination on their official website as he guns for the accolade for the first time.

The winger, who made his senior debut on the Premier League opening day against Chelsea will compete for the award against Fulham's Luke Harris and Sonny Hilton, Manchester City's Juan Larios and James McAtee, Southampton's Luke Pearce and Manchester United's Shola Shoretire.

Rak-Sakyi netted a brace against Brighton and Hove Albion and scored one against Tottenham in the month of February.

His performances is expected to convince manager Patrick Vieira to hand him first team football.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association are reported to have started the process of convincing the youngster to play for the Black Stars despite representing England at youth level.

The London-born forward has netted 15 goals in 21 matches in the Premier League II this season.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to switch allegiance and play for Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is ready to meet with the Ghana Football Association to discuss an international allegiance switch, it has emerged.

The 19-year-old was born in London to Ghanaian parents but has played three games for England U-20 team, scoring one goal.

He made his goal scoring debut for the U20s during a 6–1 victory over Romania U20s at St. George's Park.

Rak-Sakyi plays for England youth team

English-born Ghanaian, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, has chosen to play for the European country over the nation of his parents, Ghana, after making his debut on Monday.

The 18-year-old Crystal Palace winger scored as England U-20 thrashed Romania 6-1 in a friendly at the St Georges on Monday.

In photos posted on the English FA's Twitter handle, sighted by YEN.com.gh, an excited Rak-Sakyi is seen celebrating his goal for the hosts.
