Chelsea manager Graham Potter maintains he can turn the club’s fortunes around, despite another lowly defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Pressure continued to mount on the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss, whose Chelsea side are now winless in their last six games for the first time in a decade.

After the game, media caught up with Potter, who tried his best to answer questions with a level head.

Asked whether he felt he was still the man to turn Chelsea’s luck around, he said:

“Yeah because I know the quality of the team. Confidence isn’t massively high but I know the personality in the group. We just haven’t been able to transfer that on the pitch and that’s frustrating.”

The gaffer also said he “bore full responsibility” for the team’s current rut, and refused to put blame on any specific players, particularly for the performance on the pitch.

As far as the overall game against Spurs was concerned, Potter subtly played down Spurs’ win, saying both sides did not create as much chances, but “goals made the difference”.

Potter reveals threats on family

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on the disheartening threats he has been receiving because of Chelsea’s poor start to 2023.

"It's a challenge. If you go to work and somebody is swearing abuse at you, it’s not going to be pleasant – or if you’re referred to as the worst person in the history of the club. I’ve had some not particularly nice emails come through that want me to die, want my kids to die. Obviously, that's not pleasant to receive," Potter said in the build up to the Tottenham game.

Defeat leaves Chelsea in 10th place, with 31 points from 24 games.
