Jose Mourinho has once again stirred up rumours linking him with a Chelsea return. Mourinho confirmed that he was ready to leave AS Roma in December.

The Portuguese manager has been disappointed at the amount of money the Giallarossi has spent on new players since his arrival. Many of his new signings like Nemanja Matic and Paulo Dybala have been brought in on free transfers.

Speaking after Roma beat Empoli 2-0 to cement their place in the top four, the 60-year-old stated:

"I could've left in December and didn’t, this is my life, every day there is a game. Sometimes it might seem as if we are struggling, but we are up there with all the others who are very strong," as quoted by the Mirror.

Graham Potter and Chelsea

Chelsea have been shaky this season under Graham Potter but it is believed that the new owners will give him sufficient time to implement his strategies.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion boss was given a five-year contract to replace Thomas Tuchel. They played out to a barren draw with Fulham on Friday to leapfrog Liverpool into 9th place.

Mourinho reveals favourite team

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the best managers of his generation. The Portuguese initially started off as a footballer before he transitioned into football management.

The 60-year-old officially started his coaching career in 2000 when he was appointed Benfica manager before he took charge of União de Leiria briefly between 2001 and 2002.

When he was once confronted with the question of the Premier League club he supports, Mourinho had the perfect answer. According to 'the Special One' as he is fondly known, he will always be more Chelsea than Man United.
