  • Thomas Partey remains an injury doubt for Arsenal ahead of the Everton game
  • The Ghana international is yet to fully recover from the injury he suffered during the FA Cup
  • Partey has been a key player at Arsenal this season in the English Premier League

Arsenal could be without influential midfielder Thomas Partey for their trip to Merseyside to face Everton in the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old picked a knock during the FA Cup clash against Manchester City last week and although it not a serious injury, the Ghanaian midfielder is yet to train with the team.

Partey has not been entirely ruled out of the match on Saturday, but manager Mikel Arteta is unsure if he will pass a lateness fitness test for the match.

“He’s not ruled out. It’s nothing very significant but it was significant enough to get him out of the [Manchester City] game, which for Thomas is unusual. Hopefully he will be fine.

“Let’s see - that one is still a doubt. Let’s see today how he comes in and if he’s able to train with the team or not. We will make a decision on that." he said in a pre-match presser.

Arsenal have signed Jorginho from Chelsea and the Italian could replace Partey if he fails to pass a late fitness test.

The absence of the Black Stars player could be a huge blow for the league chasers, who are unbeaten with the former Atletico Madrid player in the team.

Arsenal fans worried over Partey's injury

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the first meeting of the season between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad stadium did not quite hit the height that would have been expected by fans of the two teams.

Nathan Ake produced the winning goal after Julian Alvarez long range shot came off the foot of the post, the defender was played in Jack Grealish and he slotted it home on his weaker right foot.

Arsenal's late surge could not produce results but more worrying for the Gunners fans was the substitution of star midfielder Thomas Partey at halftime, which was later confirmed by Goal to be a precaution.
