  • Fans were treated to a rare occurrence in the Premier League when rival bosses cozied up to questions in a joint pre-match interview
  • Brentford boss Thomas Frank and Chelsea manager Graham Potter even asked each other questions ahead of their clash
  • Chelsea will be looking to maintain their perfect run of form under Potter

How often do you see opposing football managers conduct joint interviews just before they face off on the pitch? I bet never.

Perhaps maybe, in Golf or Athletic meets, you will see opponents hold pressers together before a game, but not in football. The English Premier League had a new first on October 19th, when Chelsea boss Graham Potter and his Brentford counterpart Thomas Frank fielded questions together from Amazon Prime.

The two managers were preparing to face each other at the Community Stadium when they walked into a joint interview. They answered the same questions and wait for it, asked each other questions.

Frank asked Potter why he had to tinker with his formations every now and then. Potter in turn asked Frank to highlight the major difference between the Championship and the Premier League.

In a game where you don't want your opponent to read into your game plan, that was weird. And fans were rightly bemused.

"Rare to see both managers speaking to TV before they face off in the Premier League."

@Rikib_C tweeted:

"Amazons got Graham Potter and Thomas Frank interviewing each other pitch side before the game. You’d think you’ve seen it all."

@Engr_Series said:

"Thomas Frank and Graham Potter were interviewed beside each other and then asked each other a question, good one from Amazon Prime but it’s giving friendly match vibes."

@Markflay said:

"Thomas Frank and Graham Potter interviewed beside each other and then asking each other a question was class. Fair play to them both"

Kepa praised after a brilliant display

Sports Brief has also reported that Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga put in another man-of-the-match display to earn his side a precious point away to Brentford on Wednesday night.

Chelsea were dominant for most parts of the game, but the better chances of the game fell to Brentford. Kepa made impressive stops to keep his side in the game.

It has been a long walk back to redemption for the world's most expensive goalkeeper. He was largely unused under former manager Thomas Tuchel. Edouard Mendy's injury coincided with Graham Potter's appointment as Chelsea boss and Kepa has been unplayable since.
