The Spanish custodian had initially planned on securing a move away from Chelsea this summer but ended up with another deal altogether. He has been severely starved of game time after being demoted to second-choice after the rise of Edouard Mendy.
The 27-year-old is still the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after Chelsea forked out an excess of 70 million euros to sign him from Athletico Bilbao. He had a promising debut season in England, but his fortunes dwindled quickly in the second season forcing the club to sign Mendy.
His appearance at this year's World Cup for Luis Enrique is seriously doubtful. He had hoped to get a move to Lazio under his former manager Maurizio Sarri, but no offer arrived.
But Kepa won off the pitch after Martinez agreed to get married to him. Martinez is a former Miss Universe Spain, having won the award in 2020. Kepa wrote on his Instagram,
She said yes!
The two confirmed their relationship in January, according to the Daily Mail. Martinez is also a former basketballer, having represented the Spanish U-15 side.
Kepa will be hoping to force his way back to Thomas Tuchel's mind in light of recent questionable performances from Mendy. Chelsea's stout defence has disappeared this season, with the side having conceded eight goals already.

FootballThiago Silva pulls off a brilliant goal-line clearance
Sports Brief had earlier reported that Thiago Silva pulled off a stunning yet nonchalant technique to deny Southampton a goal-bound effort during Chelsea's 2-1 loss against Southampton.
Silva was the stand-out performer in what was a disjointed display from Thomas Tuchel's charges, who suffered their second successive away defeat in the season.
But Raheem Sterling drew first blood for the Blues - his third goal for Chelsea in as many games played - only for Tuchel's side to surrender the lead to a Romeo Lavia's strike.
