  • Romelu Lukaku might not feature for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel after the German delivered a gloomy picture about the 29-year-old striker's future at Stamford Bridge
  • The Belgian international mustered 15 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions in the 2021-22 season in what was an uneventful homecoming
  • Lukaku will play for Inter Milan on loan in the 2022-23 season, less than a year after Chelsea broke the bank to re-sign the former Man United striker for a fee of £97.5million

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has painted a grim picture about the return of Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian forward made a return to Chelsea amid much pomp and pageantry after a successful stint with Inter Milan, helping the Milan club to end their decade-long Serie A drought.

Lukaku's big money return to Chelsea has so far failed to yield the expected dividends with the former Manchester United striker struggling to break into Tuchel's starting lineup.

His inability to hold down a role in the plans of the German tactician coupled with his infamous interview worsened the relationship between Lukaku and Tuchel, leading to a loan move for the striker.

The 29-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract with Chelsea, has already stepped on the toes of Chelsea fans with his latest cryptic message following his loan move to Inter.

Speaking from the Blues' pre-season tour of the United States, Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports via the Sun: "Given the fact he's just on loan, of course, there's a chance.
"I don't know if it's very likely, but it's not on me to give an outlook on that. There is a chance for it."
Explaining the decision to let the 'big' Belgian striker go, Tuchel said: "We decided together with the owners that we'd let him go.
"It was his wish to go, he had the possibility, we let him go.

Lukaku stirs anger among Chelsea fans after his cryptic 'cutting ties' message

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Romelu Lukaku recently angered Chelsea fans with a subtle message that was interpreted as a dig at his former club.

The Belgian recently completed a move back to Inter, albeit on loan, to put an end to a miserable return to Stamford Bridge last year.

Inter paid a £10m loan fee for Lukaku, which ultimately made him the most expensive player when adding up all of his combined moves.
