However, they will be ending the campaign trailing the two English heavyweights with a significant gap in terms of points garnered.

The West Londoners were earlier in the season backed to challenge for the Premier League title.

Tuchel's men were among the pacesetters in the opening matches of the season as they topped the standings by December before things fell apart midway and allowed Liverpool and City to pull away in the title race.

Thomas Tuchel makes promise to Chelsea fans

Tuchel has now moved to calm the nerves among Chelsea fans, promising to help get the club back on track next season.

However, the German tactician was quick to admit their rivals will have an edge over them, especially with the Blues yet to sort out the club's ownership issues.

"What I can promise is that I will be here - if I can promise that - and I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what," Daily Mail quoted Tuchel saying.
"We will still work for Chelsea and I refuse to think of negative scenarios. We will be competitive, on which level we will see," he added.

Tuchel confirms Christensen is leaving Chelsea

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Andreas Christensen will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Denmark international has widely been linked with a potential exit at the end of the season, with Barcelona understood to be in a pole position to land his services.

The Blues had offered him a new contract but the uncertainty over the ownership of the club left the defender with no choice but to leave.

Tuchel has now come out to reveal Chelsea stand no chance of keeping Christensen beyond the ongoing season.
