Former Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel’s impact at Chelsea is still being celebrated years after departing the Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old has been recognized by the Blues as the youngest player to make 100 appearances for Chelsea in the English Premier League.

According to a report via News Premises, the Nigerian reached the milestone when he started for Chelsea in their 2-0 win over Arsenal on February 7, 2010, at age 22 years and 291 days.

Mikel topped the list ahead of several Chelsea legends, including former captain John Terry and new sensation, Mason Mount.

John Terry is second on the list, made his 100th appearance a month beyond turning 23, while Mason Mount achieved his at 23 years and 100 days.

At Chelsea, Mikel John Obi won the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup in a successful football career.

Peter Crouch apologizes to Mikel

Meanwhile, former England international, Peter Crouch finally apologized to John Obi Mikel, 14 years after almost injuring the Nigerian midfielder.

According to Soccernet, Crouch admitted his tackle on Mikel, although difficult to accept at the time, felt like “three red cards” when he sees it again.

Both players had clashed in a Carling Cup game when Chelsea defeated Liverpool and Mikel had put up an impressive display in midfield for the Blues, much to the annoyance of Peter Crouch.
