Nigerian football legend Mikel John Obi on Friday, 22 April, turns 35 and soccer fraternities in the world have been celebrating the former Chelsea star due to his achievement in football.

Although the former Super Eagles captain is still playing active football, but there are some incredible players who have shared the same dressing rooms with Mikel years back.

While playing in the Premier League, Mikel John Obi was rated as one of the best midfielders in the English topflight and the Nigerian is even a proud winner of the title.

Where did Mikel John Obi start his football career?

Mikel Obi started his football career on the streets of Jos in Plateau state before moving to Pepsi Academy and also had stint at Plateau United before moving to Europe.

The Nigerian joined Chelsea in 2006 and was at Stamford Bridge until 2017 before moving to the Chinese Super League in big money deal.

At Chelsea, Mikel John Obi won the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup in a successful football career.

Premier League club enters race to sign highly-rated Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Taiwo Awoniyi’s future seems to be pointing in one direction at the moment as a third English Premier League club has bookmarked the Nigerian for a summer transfer.

The Super Eagles striker has been in impeccable form in the Bundesliga this campaign having scored a total of 13 league goals to become the first man to reach such heights for Union Berlin.

West Ham United has now entered the race to sign the 24-year-old striker when the summer transfer window opens.

The Hammers will have to battle the likes of Newcastle United and Southampton who have previously registered their interest in the Nigerian forward.

Awoniyi’s market value is believed to be worth around €20million and West Ham will have no choice but to pay if they plan to use the Nigerian as a suitable replacement for Michail Antonio next season.
