FootballChelsea Star Kante Sets Unwanted Record Against Real Madrid in Stunning Stats Before He Was Subbed Off
- NGolo Kante was far from impressive in Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid as the midfielder was substituted at halftime
- The 31-year-old seems to have lost his form as he struggled all through the 45 minutes he featured in that game
- Kante managed just 21 touches in the entire first half and completed 15 passes out of the 21 he attempted
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante seems to be struggling in recent times as he was substituted off before the second half of their Champions League loss to Real Madrid, SunSport reports.
And his performance shows why Thomas Tuchel was correct to replace him as he managed just 45 ineffective minutes at Stamford Bridge as Los Blancos caused havoc.
SunSport reports that Tuchel disclosed that he was making a tactical change as the Blues returned to a back four formation in the second half of the game.
Kante was in the starting lineup for the Blues alongside Jorginto and Mason Mount, who all played in the midfield as Mateo Kovacic benched.
But Frenchman Kante had just 21 touches in the entire first half and completed 15 passes out of the 21 he attempted.
He was able to attempt one shot which went wide and then one key pass, as there are concerns over the current form of the 31-year-old.
He also lost his only duel and didn't make a single tackle or interception throughout the entire 45 minutes he featured in the game.
The ex-Leicester star, out of contract next year, was a world away from his man-of-the-match performances as Chelsea saw off Real and Manchester City in the semi-final and final last season.
