According to a report via Football London, the 59-year-old manager back in 2016 was quoted as saying he and Abramovich were never friends while he was in charge at Chelsea.

"He [Abramovich] was never my friend.
"We always had the relationship of owner-manager; a very respectful relationship. We were never friends. We were never close to each other. So, no, he is just a person that I keep very respected."

Roman Abramovich has confirmed in a statement that he is ending his almost 20 years association with the Blues as he has put the Stamford Bridge club up for sale.

Four contenders line up to buy Chelsea

Meanwhile, billionaires around the world are queueing up to buy Chelsea after it was revealed that Roman Abramovich has put the London club up for sale.

According to the Mirror, Britain's richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and UFC superstar Conor McGregor have been linked to a takeover bid for the Club World Cup Champions.

Swiss businessman, Hansjorg Wyss is very much interested in a deal to buy Chelsea alongside American, Todd Boehly who had failed in an initial bid to purchase the Blues back in 2019.

Abramovich has hired brokers from the United States to find a buyer for the Blues and there will be no shortage of takers for a £3.5billion deal.

Abramovich to Donate Funds from Chelsea Sale to Ukraine War Victims

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Roman Abramovich says he will donate the "net proceeds" from the sale of the club to a charitable foundation supporting victims of Ukraine's war.

The Russian billionaire is looking to sell the Stamford Bridge-based club over fears he could be sanctioned by the UK government over that ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.

Abramovich's drastic decision to sell the club came just days after he handed over his ‘stewardship and care’ to trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation.
