FootballChelsea Star Claims the Blues Have Big Chance of Winning the Premier League
- Chelsea are among the teams widely touted as favourites to challenge for the EPL this season
- However, the Blues have endured a dip in form in recent weeks that saw them lose ground to Man City
- The west Londoners currently trail City by six points ahead of the second half of the season
- But Mason Mount is confident enough the Blues have what it takes to cart home the domestic crown
Mason Mount believes Chelsea have a chance of winning the Premier League this season despite enduring a rocky run of form in recent weeks.
The Blues had a strong start to the season and topped the standings for weeks before they tumbled to third to lose ground on leaders, Man City.
Thomas Tuchel's charges are currently trailing Man City by six points ahead of the second half of the season.
But even as the title race hots up, Mount is confident Chelsea have everything it takes to storm to glory and that the side can "definitely" win the league this term.
"The title has always been our goal. We want to be up there. More than ever this season, we feel like we have a big chance. We can definitely do it," Mount told Chelsea’s website.
"We have the confidence. But we need to be humble and focused, too. We need to keep doing the basics well," he added.
Mounts claim comes just days after Chelsea bounced back from two successive draws to see off Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
A brace of penalties from Jorginho and a goal from Romelu Lukaku was all the west Londoners needed to secure a 3-1 comfortable win at Villa Park.
They are due to take on Brighton in their next Premier League outing, with a win at home enough to see them leapfrog Liverpool to second on the log.
Chelsea get double injury boost
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their Premier League meeting with Brighton on Wednesday, December 29, at Stamford Bridge.
