The west Londoners have had to contend with injuries to key players and Covid-19 within the squad in recent weeks in a blow that has taken a huge toll on their title challenge.

The absence of important players saw the Blues drop points against West Ham and Everton before they bounced back to winning ways against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Thomas Tuchel will now be hoping his charges can build on the momentum as they push to keep pace with league leaders, Man City, in their title push.

The German has now been boosted with the return of N'Golo Kante and Kai Havertz, with the duo in line to play against the Seagulls.

Metro UK reports Kante trained with his teammates on Tuesday, December 28, and looks to be in contention to face Brighton.

Tuchel had previously revealed the Frenchman was a major doubt for the clash having picked a knee injury against Aston Villa.

On his part, Havertz has missed four consecutive matches through illness and Covid-19.

Mount backs Chelsea to challenge for EPL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Mason Mount believes Chelsea have a chance of winning the Premier League this season despite enduring a rocky run of form in recent weeks.

The Blues had a strong start to the season and topped the standings for weeks before they tumbled to third to lose ground on leaders, Man City.

Thomas Tuchel's charges are currently trailing Man City by six points ahead of the second half of the season.

But even as the title race hots up, Mount is confident Chelsea have everything it takes to storm to glory and that the side can "definitely" win the league this term
