Edouard Mendy has been named the Sportsman of the Year by French Television Show Quotidien following his exploits with Chelsea and Senegal.
The Chelsea goalie led the Blues to the UEFA Champions League, European Super League and Club World Cup success and was also the hero of Senegal as they won the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history.
Mendy took to Instagram to express delight after he received the award for his display in the 2021 year in review.
He wrote: "Very happy to receive this Golden Q 2022 trophy and to be voted sportsman of the year. Many thanks to the entire Le Quotidien team for this award."
The award is his fourth individual accolade since joining Chelsea, after being named UEFA goalkeeper of the year, FIFA Best goalkeeper and CAF's goalkeeper at AFCON 2021.
Edouard Mendy gets a break after hectic month
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea and Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has finally gotten some breather after a busy start to 2022, where he was actively involved at both club and country.
The former Stade Rennes goalie helped Senegal win their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title and was also key to Chelsea's Club World Cup triumph over the weekend in Qatar.

Mendy rejoined his Chelsea teammates few hours after Senegal's AFCON winning team were given a heroes welcome in Dakar, to help the Blues to another title.
Speaking to Chelsea's media after making history with Senegal, the 29-year-old could not believe what he saw on their return to Dakar.
