Chelsea have reportedly offered Antonio Rudiger another new improved deal in a bid to keep him at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.
Rudiger's future with the Blues is hanging on the balance after he stalled on renewing his current contract.
Rudiger's contract demands
According to reports, the German international is demanding a new deal worth £200,000-per-week.
However, it is believed Chelsea chiefs have been reluctant to offer that much, plunging the defender's future with them into limbo.
The 28-year-old is well aware he can pocket as much as £400,000-per-week - inclusive of signing on fees and bonuses - if he leaves Chelsea on a Bosman transfer.
Goal reports it is, for this reason, Chelsea have submitted a bid even closer to that £200,00-per-week to Rudiger's representatives.
Chelsea keen to keep experienced players
Daily Mail claims the decision to give in to Rudiger's demands is to ensure they do not lose too many of their defenders this summer.
Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is already in the final months of his deal at Stamford Bridge while Andreas Christensen has been linked with a move away.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the leading clubs monitoring Rudiger's situation at Chelsea with reports suggesting they have already offered the German pre-contracts ahead of the transfer window.
Manchester United, surprisingly, have also been linked with a potential move for the ex-Stuttgart defender.
Lacazette named Arsenal captain
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has appointed Alexander Lacazette as the club's new captain for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

FootballThe Gunners have been without a substantive skipper since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the role following "a disciplinary breach."
And with the Gabonese striker already past tense at the Emirates following his January switch to Barcelona, Arteta has resolved to fill the role with Lacazette.
