Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is reportedly close to agreeing on a new three-year contract at German club Borussia Dortmund.

The 47-year-old steered Ghana to the 2022 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria, erasing the pain of getting eliminated at the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year.

Addo was at the same time combining the Ghana role with his job as a special coach taking care of Dortmund's talents, before committing to lead the Black Stars to the World Cup in Qatar on an interim basis.

Per a report in German newspaper Sport1.de, Addo is ready to extend his deal for another three years until 2025 as his current contract with the Bundesliga giants ends this summer.

Addo featured for the Black and Yellows for six years from 1999 to 2005, playing 80 games and scoring 11 goals. He has been has been the talent coach and a scout for Dortmund for three year July 1, 2019.

Top talented players like Jude Bellingham, Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho and Manchester City new signing Erling Haaland have passed under Addo's wing at Dortmund.

In winter 2020, after the dismissal of Lucien Favre, he also took over the job of assistant coach on an interim basis and, six months later, won the DFB Cup together with Edin Terzic and Sebastian Geppert.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Ghana midfielder Otto Addo has agreed a two-year deal to become the new coach Ghana's senior national team, Black Stars.

Addo's imminent appointment as successor to Milovan Rajevac, who was sacked on after Ghana's abysmal performance ta the 2021 African Cup of Nations, comes about after talks with Ghana FA officials in Germany.

The former Dortmund winger was offered the job after impressing the Ghana FA executives and is set to bring George Boateng and Didi Dramani with him, as his assistants.
