- With his eight Ballon d'Or titles, many fans and football pundits believe he is the greatest
- But Franck Ribery once taught the Argentine a football lesson in a UEFA Champions League tie
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi might be one of the greatest footballers in history, but that doesn’t mean that he’s immune to the odd humiliation.
The 35-year-old is well noted for his lightning-quick dribble and superhuman-like change of direction that sees him outwit opponents with ease.
One of his most iconic dribbles occurred in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals between Barcelona and Bayern Munich when he left Jerome Boateng for dead at Camp Nou in 2015.
It was a one-on-one situation when Messi dummied to cut inside onto his left foot before changing direction quickly onto his right, leaving Boateng to the ground in a comical fashion.

The Argentine genius then chipped the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with his right foot to put Barcelona 2-0 up.
But two years earlier, Messi was on the receiving end of a similar humiliation against a Bayern Munich player at the same level of the Champions League.
It was a first-leg clash between the Bavarians and Catalan giants at the Allianz in April of 2013, former France playmaker Franck Ribery had Messi on toast in a 1v1 duel.
Ribery dribbled past Messi in a way that made the little magician sit down near the edge of box in a way too similar to that of Boateng.
Bayern Munich eventually won the match 4-0.
