  • Bayern Munich were unable to overcome the resilience of VFB Stuggart in the German Bundesliga on Saturday
  • Julian Nagelsmann's outfit were pegged back twice at the Allianz Arena in a meeting with the struggling Bundesliga side
  • The reigning German champions have now drawn their third straight Bundesliga match this season

Defending champions Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw at home to struggling Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon.

The Bavarians were hoping to return to winning ways after back-to-back draws in the Bundesliga.

And the arrival of the struggling Stuttgart side at the Allianz Arena seemed like the perfect tonic for Julian Nagelsmann's team.

But the away side played with confidence and bravely throughout the game, with the reigning Bundesliga champions rather looking out of sorts.

Nagelsmann started the game with Mathys Tel upfront - who then became the youngest player Bayern's history to start a Bundesliga game.

It was Tel who made the occasion counted for him as he put the ball at the back of the net after a brilliant low cross from Canadian defender Alphonso Davies.

Stuttgart almost pulled parity early in the 54th minute after an awful error from Joshua Kimmich error but VAR intervened cancel the goal after a very light foul.

Five minutes later, the away team got the deserved equaliser thanks to a Chris Fuhrich strike.

A shaky Bayern team were able to score a goal after Jamal Musiala finished off a brilliant individual goal.

The young German attacking midfielder received the ball in the box, and froze his marker with a stunning faint before delivering a sweet shot into the bottom corner.

Bayern should have put the game to bed afterwards but Stuttgart goalkeeper Florian Muller had a strong hand to twice deny Musiala and Serge Gnabry.

Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy thought he had notched the equaliser in the 80th minute but once again, his ruled out following an infringement on Kimmich.

Guirassy had the last laugh however after he outwitted Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt who then impeded him in the box in stoppage time.

The referee had no choice but to award a penalty for the visitors, which was converted hammed into the net by Guirassy to clinch an awe-inspiring point in Munich.
