Each side gets a share of the gate takings from the DFB-Pokal game, with the DFB also receiving a portion. Bayern’s president Herbert Hainer promised they would offer Viktoria Köln some support by sharing a portion of their money.

"Viktoria Köln boast a history of over 110 years and have been a constant in German professional football,” he said.

He added that many clubs were still suffering from the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and that Bayern were also willing to support troubled clubs.

“We're happy that we can make this contribution and wish Viktoria Köln all the best for the future,” he added.

He joked that the only occasion they didn’t wish them well was during the game, as Bayern wanted to win and go deep into the competition.

Viktoria Köln are expecting approximately 50 000 fans to pack in the stadium for what will be the biggest match in the club’s long history.

Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić reveals how he managed to sign Sadio Mané for German champs

Hasan Salihamidžić has been Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director for the past five years, and it’s easy to see why.

Brazzo, as he is affectionately known, steered the ship through a tough pandemic-hit era and has helped build a strong squad that coach Julian Nagelsmann can use to challenge on all fronts.

However, Salihamidžić is no stranger to criticism. Brazzo most recently came under fire from fans of the club when he was spotted in a nightclub in Mallorca before the new season started.
