Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director, Hasan Salihamidžić, has explained why the club didn’t try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese superstar was linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions when he first announced that he wanted to leave Manchester United in the current transfer window.
Salihamidžić explained that signing Ronaldo was discussed but that the club's board voted against the decision, Daily Mail reported. He then explained why it made no sense to sign Ronaldo this summer.
“When you now see how our attack is equipped - even without Robert Lewandowski - it's just difficult from a sporting and financial point of view,” he said.

Salihamidžić added that they were currently happy with their attacking options and weren’t looking to add to it.
As reported by BVB Buzz, Salihamidžić did admit that Bayern were interested in signing Erling Haaland. He explained that they held talks with the striker before he decided to join Manchester City.
“We had a few conversations, of course, that’s no secret. In the end, it didn’t work out for various reasons. I don’t want to blame the player. He chose something that he thinks is better for him,” he added.
