Meanwhile, multiple reports have hinted at Messi favouring a return to his old stomping grounds ahead of a renewal with the French champions, per SB Nation.
Contradicting the rife reports, Argentine journalist Gaston Edu reckons that the current Barcelona board led by Joan Laporta will hamper Messi's return despite his unflinching love for the club.

"The relationship between Messi’s camp and Laporta is not good. Messi loves Barcelona, but the absolute difference is the board in the club.
"The relationship between the parties didn’t end in the best way," he claimed on TyC Sports via Sportskeeda.
