World champion Lionel reportedly has no intention of renewing his expiring contract with Paris Saint Germain and wants to leave in the summer.

The 35-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season, but PSG have the option to extend it by a further year.

The Argentine phenomenon signed a two-year deal which ends next summer with the Parisians after ending his over two-decade association with Barcelona, per Eurosport.

Messi has enjoyed a successful second season in France and has already scored 12 goals and racked up 14 assists in just 19 games.

With Messi enjoying a successful start to his second season in Paris, the Ligue 1 giants are reportedly working on a further contract extension.

But it seems the 2022 Golden Ball winner has no intentions to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 giants.

According to Argentine journalist Sergio Gonzalez, noted by Tribuna, there are a few reasons why that is the case.

Why Messi is refusing PSG renewal

The reporter reveals that Messi is unhappy about how he has been received by the French fans and media. As reported by ESPN, the Barcelona icon was booed by PSG fans last season, and the media has been very critical of him.

It is also reported that Messi does not share a good relationship with manager Christophe Galtier and wants to move away as a result.

Furthermore, the little magician is displeased with how much power Kylian Mbappe boasts at the club since signing a new deal. He wants to leave to save himself from the possibility of tussling with the Frenchman in the future.

Messi’s former side, Barcelona, are keen to bring the superstar back to Camp Nou once his contract expires. Football journalist, Veronica Brunati, even predicted that the Argentinian would return to the club on July 1, 2023.

A move to Inter Miami

Many were shocked when news broke that the PSG man was close to joining Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. ESPN recently dismissed the reports that the star was close to agreeing on a deal with the Argentinian superstar.

Sports Brief earlier reported that 2022 World Cup winner Lionel Messi reportedly has another suitor from Saudi Arabia.
