Barcelona’s financial troubles are proving costly.
The Spanish side have found it difficult to not fall foul of La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in recent years.
The club have struggled to operate efficiently while staying profitable and will now face further financial punishment for breaching the rules.
As noted by Barca Universal, La Liga have imposed an €800 000 fine on the Blaugrana for breaching the regulations three times during the previous season.

The publication noted that Barcelona was fined over the contracts of three players that were handed out during the 2021/22 financial year. Dani Alves, Andreas Christensen, and Ronald Araujo’s contracts are all believed to have breached the FFP regulations, for different reasons, and as such, the club were fined.
Barcelona have appealed the decision and want resolutions for each fine. The club and La Liga could be embroiled in another long court battle as a result.
It’s not the first time that Barcelona have been punished by La Liga over a player.
As noted by The Guardian, Barcelona was previously fined €300 after they were found to have broken the rules in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann. Barca appealed that decision as well.
