Barcelona’s attempts to renegotiate the contracts of some of their players has hit a roadblock.
The Spanish club were looking to renegotiate the contracts of Gerard Piqué and Sergio Busquets to free up more funds to buy new players and register them.
Barca originally planned to get Piqué and Busquets to reduce their wages through a new contract. The players would defer parts of their wages until the end of their new contracts. Unfortunately for the Blaugrana, they can no longer rely on that avenue.

According to La Liga rules, though, the club would have to pay both players all their money due this season if they were to add the clause. So, with Barcelona trying to save money, they have decided to refrain from renegotiating new deals.
Instead, they will look to sell players first this transfer window. Barcelona are currently looking for a right-back and are still attempting to sign Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.
Their attempts to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City have also stalled as the club cannot raise the money to meet City’s asking price, Daily Mail reported.

FootballBarcelona has hit a roadblock in their bid to convince club veteran, Gerard Pique to take a massive pay cut to help the Catalans register all its new players.
Pique is arguably angry at the Barcelona hierarchy after he was denied a business deal that could have seen his company purchase a percentage of Barcelona’s Barca studios.
According to Barca Universal, Pique had an eye on buying the 24.5% stake in Barça Studios before the sale to Orpheus Media was finalized in the 4th economic lever for the Catalans.
