Samuel Eto'o has worded a heartwarming message to Cameroon football legend Roger Milla on his 70th birthday.
The Cameroon Football Federation boss paid tribute to Milla using the opportunity to thank him for his services to the country.
In a message posted on Facebook, Eto'o also called on Cameroonians to observe the national unity day in the Central African country.
"On this National Day of May 20, in front of the Green Red and Yellow flag, let's take the time to meditate, let's pay tribute to those who died to preserve our territory and our freedom," he wrote.
"Then, let us take advantage of this commemorative day to reaffirm our loyalty to the values of our country and to its ideals of peace, hard work and love of the Fatherland. Values and ideals that are carried by sport in general and football in particular.
"The latter is at the heart of our national unity. Thus, like the flag, our jersey is an element of identification for all Cameroonians regardless of their region, religion, language or country of residence. I invite you to do everything to preserve this precious asset.
"To all: Happy National Unity Day. PS: Our Very Dear Roger Milla was born on May 20th. Let us celebrate those whose exploits have made Cameroon shine, made us proud and shown us the way.
"Happy birthday Ambassador."
Roger Milla was the star for Cameroon at the World Cup in 1986 and 1990. He held the record for Africa's top scorer at the World Cup until Asamoah Gyan broke it in 2014.
