Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui has paid tribute to FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o for ensuring a successful hosting of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament which was moved to 2022 due to COVID-19 was plunged with uncertainty, with pressure from FIFA and some footballing governing bodies for the competition to be postponed again.

However, Eto'o who assumed office late last year resisted moves to cancel the tournament as he stood firm by his decision that Cameroon were ready.

“There is Samuel Eto'o who won the last federal elections, and who finally gives football back to footballers: it was about time," Ngadeu told RTBF as quoted by allezleslions.net.
"There has always been political interference in football in Cameroon and things had to be changed. I also hope that he will bring the voice of Africa to the world level: without him, CAN 2021 would probably not have taken place.
"He resisted pressure from FIFA and Europe, who wanted to postpone the tournament so as not to release the players."

Cameroon successfully hosted the tournament this year with the Teranga Lions of Senegal emerging champions.

The Indomitable Lions finished third after beating Burkina Faso in an epic third and fourth place game.
