Fati, whose meteoric rise from Barcelona's famous La Masia academy has been plagued by injuries made the interesting revelation on how he followed Drogba during his boyhood days.
The Spain international is not an out and out striker like his mentor, Didier Drogba, but according to the Barca prodigy, he learnt some attributes from the Chelsea legend while also fusing the Ivorian's technique and style of play with other players.
“I followed Didier Drogba a lot when I was younger, he was incredible. But rather than looking at one player, in particular, I prefer to look at footballers more generally and enjoy all of the great players we’ve seen over the years,” Fati told Sports Bible.
The 19-year-old forward broke into Barcelona's first team in the 2019-20 season, going on to make his debut for the Catalan giants at 16 years and 298 days, becoming the second-youngest player to debut for the club, only 18 days older than Vicenç Martínez in 1941.
Despite the unquestionable talent possessed by Fati, injuries have hampered the growth of his career stifling his trajectory.
