  • Ansu Fati replaced Aubameyang in Barcelona's victory over Mallorca in a La Liga match at Camp Nou
  • It was his first appearance since January after suffering from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of Xavi's squad
  • Fati is considered a star of the future with his incredible performances since making his debut, earning him a lot of praise

Camp Nou welcomed back teenage sensation Ansu Fati emphatically on his recovery from injury. Fati has been sidelined for close to three months with a hamstring injury.

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez introduced him in the 75th minute against Mallorca. He replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the Blaugrana faithful were quick to let him know how much he had been missed, as Marca reports.

Goals from Memphis Depay and Sergio Busquests helped Barcelona maintain their grip on second place. The other highlight was the recovery of Fati, who will come in handy in the last games of the season.

Fati has been a revelation for Barcelona since he made his debut. He has shown flashes of brilliance exhibited by Lionel Messi when he was starting off his Barcelona career. Barcelona gave him the number 10 after the dramatic exit of Messi to Paris Saint Germain.

He has, however, not played a lot this season with the iconic shirt. He has featured only 10 times and scored five goals in the current campaign.

Fati's recovery is welcome news to Xavi

The Spanish international adds a fresh dynamic to Xavi’s side. The head coach already has a ridiculous pool of talent at his disposal. Ousmanne Dembele and Aubameyang have been combining effectively in Barcelona’s charge for the second position.

Barcelona will, however, finish the season trophyless for the first time in a long time. They started the season poorly under Ronald Koeman, and Real Madrid finally pipped them to the La Liga title.

Eintracht Frankfurt bundled them out of the Europa League quarter-finals after they had failed to make it past the Champions League group stages. In the Copa Del Rey, Athletico Bilbao beat them in stoppage time of the competition’s quarter-finals.

Xavi will be hoping to have a fully-fit Fati ahead of next season. He has been branded as one of the most exciting prospects of world football.

De Jong could move to Barcelona

Sports Brief had earlier reported Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong could be on his way out of Barcelona. Erik Ten Hag remains a huge admirer of De Jong and is seeking an Old Trafford reunion.

Barcelona are already lining up a bid for Carlos Soler should De Jong leave. The Catalans are ready to offer 16 million euros to Valencia to get Soler.

Manchester United should offer an excess of 58 million euros to convince Barcelona to release the former Ajax star.
