When asked about hearing that the Clarets were interested in him, Foster admitted he was surprised:

"I was on holiday at the time when my agent rang me up and said that there is interest from Burnley. From that moment, my heart and my head were set on the club and I started counting down the days to get here."

Foster also spoke about how in South Africa, English football was the league many chose to follow.

"For me, as a kid, it was always a dream to come play in England. Like I said, when I got the call that Burnley wanted me, it all felt unreal"

Foster once played against Kompany

Sports Brief also reported on Foster and Vincent Kompany having played against each other years before.

The impressive Burnley coach and his new striking acquisition crossed paths during the 2019/20 season in the Belgian Pro League.

Foster played for Cercle Brugge on loan from Monaco, while the Manchester City legend was winding his career down at Belgium giants, Anderlecht R.S.C.

Burnley announces Foster in style

Sports Brief also reported on Burnley announcing the signing of Foster from Belgium side Westerlo in unusual style.

The announcement used a clip from the first Shrek movie, involving antagonist Lord Farquaad's conversation with the 'Mirror on the Wall'.

After suggesting the club's major signing could be Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, the reveal at the end was to be Foster himself.
