Many fans have since asked if Broos has a problem with Mamelodi Sundowns’ players because he often omits them from his team.

Jali’s omission itself has come as quite a surprise as the Masandawana midfielder earned himself five nominations in the Premier Soccer League’s awards for his performances this season.

The Bafana coach has since hit back at critics, explaining why he hasn’t selected certain players, The Citizen reported.

“I don’t focus on the fact that Jali has five nominations, I have said this from the beginning and for two years, and I am very sorry, I don’t see why I should select Jali and Zwane.”

Broos also added that Bongani Zungu was omitted from the squad because of ill-discipline.

The Amiens SC player has had his fair share of trouble in France and has often been left out of the squad because of disciplinary issues.

“At Amiens he didn’t play half their games because of trouble, not because he is not good enough, but because of trouble. Three or four months ago the coach and chairman of the club wanted to get him out. What happened in Amiens can also happen here,” Broos added.

Broos made the comments during an interview with SABC Sport and didn't hold back with his comments. You can watch that interview here:

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has whittled down his South African national team squad to 23. The 23-man squad will take on Morocco in June in their first Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The game will take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat, Morocco, on June 9, SAFA.net reported. Broos originally selected 37 players in his preliminary squad before trimming it to 23.

Stellenbosch FC striker, Ashley du Preez, was part of that 37-man squad but has not made the final team.
