According to Football Espana, Mauricio Pochettino - who has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer - has been linked with replacing his countryman in Madrid.

Former Barcelona and Spain head coach, Luis Enrique is also on the La Liga’s club radar, due to his pedigree and his knowledge of the country's top flight league.

Simeone tipped for EPL move

Meanwhile, former Atletico Madrid wing-back and Newcastle captain, Kieran Trippier believes a move to England would suit Simeone, following reports that he is set to leave Spain, Daily Mirror reports.

The English defender, who won the Spanish league title under the Argentine back at Atletico Madrid, has now urged his former boss to move to the Premier League.

Simeone won eight trophies in more than a decade at the Spanish giants, including two La Liga titles and reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2014 and 2016.

Simeone set for Madrid exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Simeone’s reign about to end as manager of Atletico Madrid, after 11 years in charge of the La Liga giants.

The Argentine will depart this summer after several successes with the Rojiblancos, having reportedly informed the club’s board of his intention to leave already.

There is a growing portion of Atleti supporters who believe Simeone should indeed leave the club, in order for the club to make better use of present resources.
