"[De Souza] has joined Asante Kotoko for a six-month deal with a plus one-year option to extend. The enterprising left-footed forward is expected to boost our striking department in our quest to achieve our season target, with goals and assists which are his trademarks," the club wrote on their official website.

The club stated De Souza was the second player to join in the current transfer window, after Ghanaian, Rashid Nortey.

De Souza is also the third Brazilian to join the club under the management of Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah. In recent times, Fabio Gama and Michael Vinicius all featured for the Ghanaian giants.

The club's newest signing spent time in Romania and is expected to make his debut against Karela United on Thursday, February 2.

Kotoko shares spoils with Hearts

Sports Brief also reported on Caleb Amankwah's late header earning Hearts of Oak a point against fierce rivals Asante Kotoko in their Ghanaian Super Clash encounter.

The defender netted with three minutes remaining, to cancel out a second-half strike by Kotoko's Yussif Mubarik.

After a goalless first half, Asante Kotoko broke the deadlock with a well-worked free kick which deflected off Hearts defender Kanadu Yiadom and reached Mubarik.

Kotoko eliminated from CAF league

Asante Kotoko have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after a penalty shootout defeat to Burkinabe side, RC Kadiogo.

The Ghanaian champions were stunned at home after Kadiogo scored early through a brilliant free kick from Bassika Syla.
