The Gunners are currently topping the standings with 72 points, eight points above second-placed City.

The Sun reports the Citizens momentarily narrowed the gap to five points earlier last Saturday after a 4-1 thrilling win over Liverpool before Arsenal restored the gap after winning by a similar scoreline against Leeds United.

Supercomputer's Premier League prediction

Going by the weekend results, bettingexpert's supercomputer BETSiE has backed Arsenal to finish the season at the top with 88.1 points.

City have been tipped to settle for a second-place finish with 85.2 points, more than 10 points above Newcastle who are predicted to finish third after they beat Man United on Sunday.

Meanwhile, United are projected to seal the top four podium ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, with Liverpool settling for Europa League football in seventh, behind Brighton.

Elsewhere, Southampton are predicted to get relegated after struggling for results throughout the season, with Everton and Nottingham Forest expected to join them in the Championship.

Rooney backs Arsenal for glory

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Wayne Rooney has made his prediction for this season's Premier League title race as Arsenal and Man City go head-to-head.

Rooney, a Man United legend, has backed Arsenal to lift the Premier League title this season ahead of Man City.

According to the former striker, he cannot see the north Londoners collapsing despite pressure from Pep Guardiola's side.
