Chris Hughton has addressed the role of Thomas Partey as a Black Stars player and an Arsenal midfielder.
The Arsenal star has been criticized for not giving his best to the national team anytime he is playing for Ghana.
However, Hughton insists his roles at club and country differ slightly but that does not take away how important he is to the team.
"Partey’s roles for both club and country are different from each other but key," said Hughton, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.com.

"His role in the team is as a continuity player. He is not the type of player to expect to dribble past multiple players. His role is important to what the team does even if he doesn’t always stand out."
Partey, who starred in Arsenal's 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, will arrive in Ghana on Monday ahead of preparations for the AFCON qualifier against Angola.
The deputy Black Stars captain is expected to play a key role as Ghana eye early qualification for the tournament to be hosted by Ivory Coast next year.
Hughton unveiled as Ghana coach
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chris Hughton has been unveiled as the new coach of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager will be in charge of the Black Stars until December 2024.
At a short ceremony in Kumasi, Hughton shared his excitement and hopes to lead the four-time African champions back to their glory days.
