Thomas Partey has disclosed that his role as a chief in Ghana is to inspire the youth of his hometown.

The Ghana and Arsenal midfielder was enstooled developmental chief of the people of Somanya in the Eastern Region.

Partey hails from the town and has been identified as someone who the youth can emulate following his success.

"I am the youth chief," he told Super Sport with broad smiles.

"It is a developmental chief, someone who inspires the young ones from where I came from. They realize I was once there with them but they didn't know me.
"They realize how my journey was from where I coming from to here, they want me to inspire to inspire the children and be able to give them inspiration for whatever they are doing. So they should never give up and believe they will also one day make it and help the community where I am coming from."

Partey is a role model for many young footballers in Ghana following his rise to the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old left Ghana as a teenager to join Atletico Madrid, where he spent most of his career before his mega move to Arsenal.

Partey has been an integral member of the Arsenal team this season.
