A few days ago, Arsenal were eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and were in command of the title race.

Today, it's just three points separating the two teams.

Arsenal lost 1-0 away to Everton and drew 1-1 at home to Brentford to see their title ambition almost capitulating in their own eyes, but the draw against their London neighbours will undoubtedly hurt the Gunners the most.

As reported by SuperSport, Ivan Toney's goal was wrongly allowed by the VAR despite Christian Norgaard being offside. The Premier League officials ruled it human error, much to the disappointment of manager, Mikel Arteta.

Arteta wants two points back

Speaking ahead of the crunch encounter against Man City on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium, as quoted by Metro UK, the Gunners boss acknowledged the officials' message but admitted it could have cost the team the league title.

‘‘That was a big, big, big [instance of] not considering or understanding your job and that’s not acceptable, I’m sorry. It cost us two points and that’s not going to be restored. But at the same time, we appreciate the apology. We appreciate the explanations - which were really open to be fair,’’ he said.

When quizzed further on if he was satisfied by the position of the league officials, he gave a condition that would make it satisfactory.

‘‘I will only be satisfied if they give me the two points back, which is not going to be the case!’’

Wenger gives Arsenal title advice
