Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has responded to critics who claim he puts up a much better performance for Arsenal than he does for Ghana.

The Arsenal star has been a pale shadow of himself playing for the Black Stars at the World Cup.

However, the 29-year-old insists he is playing according to the coach's instruction, and it is not about his individual performance but a team effort.

“Most people expect a lot from me, but we are playing as a team and I listen to the coach and do what he tells me, "he said in a pre-match interview ahead of the Uruguay game.

“You know you can do something better, but you have to stick what the team wants and not individuality," he added.

Partey has been constantly criticized by fans on social media with some claiming he is not committed to playing for the country, but the ex-Atletico Madrid player says he does not let such negative comments get to him.

"We are used to negative comments and in the end, we understand their opinions and demands. Sometimes it pushes you, and sometimes when you give too much attention to it you forget about yourself but you have to keep pushing," he continued.
