  • Bukayo Saka left everyone worried after he seemed to suffer a horror injury against Nottingham Forest
  • The youngster was part of Arsenal's team which took on relegation-threatened Nottingham on Sunday

  • There were fears Saka's injury could rule him out of the World Cup, which is set to kick off in three weeks

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Bukayo Saka's injury, after the Englishman limped off during the Gunners' 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Saka has been in hot form for the north Londoners this season, with his performances putting his side in a better position to challenge for the Premier League title.

However, he sent Arsenal and England into panic on Sunday after he picked an injury while in action against bottom-placed Nottingham.

The Englishman resumed action shortly after but was down again minutes in discomfort.

Arsenal were left with no choice but to sub him off, with Arteta introducing Reiss Nelson in his place.

Manager gives Saka injury update

There were initial fears that Saka's injury setback could rule him out for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, which is scheduled to kick off in three weeks.

However, Arteta has come out to downplay those fears, reassuring fans that Saka's injury is not as bad as initially thought.

"It was a bad kick; he was limping but I don’t see it further than that. Both foot and ankle, he got kicked a few times," Arteta said via Metro UK.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's win over Nottingham helped them recapture their top spot in the standings as they continue with their Premier League title push.

The Gunners had momentarily dropped to second after Man City saw off Leicester earlier on Saturday.

Arsenal stars show support for Pablo Mari

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Pablo Mari continuing to recover after he was stabbed. Arsenal players have sent a message of support to the defender in their match against Nottingham Forest.

Gabriel Martinelli went to celebrate with the fans and was handed Pablo Mari's shirt, which he and Arsenal players posed with.

Mari, who is on loan at Monza, was stabbed at a shopping centre in Italy while out with his wife and son.
