An iconic photo of ex-Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger during his playing days has caused a massive stir on social media.

The 72-year-old former French manager, who is currently serving as FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, is best remembered for his time with Premier League side Arsenal, which spanned over two decades.

However, before he moved into management, Wenger had a modest playing career, where he played for Mulhouse and Strasbourg.

In a photo posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, a younger-looking Wenger was spotting his Strasbourg jersey in a French Ligue 1 game.

Arsène Wenger leads World XI to success in Soccer Aid Charity game

Usain Bolt led the World XI to victory against England XI in the Soccer Aid charity match at the London Stadium.

Several stars from the sporting and entertainment industry showed up to support the charity event, with proceeds expected to be donated to UNICEF in support of the less privileged.

In photos posted on social media, the game was hugely patronized with the stars gathered to support a worthy course.

Wenger heaps praise on Senegal defender Saliou Ciss

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger has described Saliou Ciss of Senegal as one of the best fullbacks on the continent after his outstanding display for the Teranga Lions at the Nations Cup.

Saliou Ciss is the only player in the Senegalese team that plays in the lower divisions in France but starred as the West African football powerhouse won their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations.

Wenger, who followed the Africa Cup of Nations, was impressed with the left-back and insists he played a key role in Senegal's success.
