According to All Nigeria Soccer, The Nigeria Football Federation is threatening to report Watford to FIFA over the release of Emmanuel Dennis.

The Nigerian striker has been in inspiring form for the Hornets this season was on target again as Watford lost 4-1 to Westham at the Vicarage Road on Monday, December 27, taking his tally for the season to 8 goals in 15 appearances for Claudio Ranieri’s side in the English Premier League.

Dennis who was recently named in Nigeria’s 28-man provisional squad to the AFCON next January expressed his delight on social media on being recalled to the Super Eagles after almost a year out of the national team.

Watford however are threatening not to release the former Club Brugge forward for Africa’s biggest football showpiece in Cameroon as reported by The Athletic over a late email.

The Hornets claim Nigeria missed a deadline to advise the club that the striker was under consideration for the tournament, which runs from January 9 to February 6, before naming him in the final squad.

The Nigeria Football Federation are also facing a similar dilemma with Italian outfit Napoli over Victor Osimhen’s participation at the AFCON.

Napoli have threatened to sue the striker and Nigeria if Osimhen participates at the tournament siting the Super Eagles forward is not fully recovered from a recent head injury suffered in November.

Nigeria are drawn in Group D of the tournament alongside Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan and will begin their campaign against the Pharaohs on January 11.
