Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis has expressed excitement and declared he is proud to have made the Super Eagles squad list to the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon reports Complete Sports.
Interim coach of the Super Eagles Austin Eguavoen last week released Nigeria’s list to the AFCON comprising of 28 players headlined by Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and captain Ahmed Musa.
Other players also on the list include Kelechi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun, Maduka Okoye and returnee Odion Ighalo.
Emmanuel Dennis who has just three caps for the Super Eagles and last featured in the goalless draw against Sierra-Leone over a year ago as reported by Soccernet has seen himself return to the squad going to the AFCON.
Dennis form for Watford is the key reason behind his call-up back to the national team as the Nigerian is one of the top performers in the English premier league with the attacker scoring seven goals and registering five assists in 15 games played this season.
The Watford striker who expressed his delight in being recalled to the Super Eagles took to social media to state how proud he is to be part of the team to represent Nigeria at next year’s AFCON.
Nigeria will be hoping Emmanuel Dennis brings to the Super Eagles set-up his red hot form as they aim to win a fourth continental trophy having lost out on key forward Paul Onauchu due to injury.
Nigeria is placed in group D alongside six-time AFCON champions Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
