  • Anthony Martial is desperate to leave Premier League club Manchester United as the striker has dropped down the perking order
  • Manchester United manager Rangnick has told the player that as long as there are no offers, the striker would remain at the Old Trafford club
  • The Frenchman who joined from Monaco for £36million in 2015 is desperate to go in search of regular football elsewhere

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has told Anthony Martial that as long as there are no offers, the striker would remain at the Old Trafford club, Mirror reports.

The United boss had a meeting with the embattled forward who has not really made the starting line-up since the new manager was appointed.

Martial wants more play time and Rangnick admits the player’s plight as the 25-year-old who joined from Monaco for £36million in 2015 is desperate to leave the club.

Rangnick said via Euro Sport:

“We spoke at length. He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.
“We have Covid times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions and we want to be as successful as we can be.
“I told him 'listen, as long as there is no club showing interest in him [he will stay]' and it should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club.
"As far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and, as long as this is the case, he will stay.”

Man Utd interested in Kalvin Phillips

Meanwhile, Leeds United star Kalvin Philips has insisted he is happy at the club despite interest from Man United.

United have widely been linked with a possible transfer move for the Englishman, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick understood to be a huge admirer.

Rangnick is said to have singled out the midfield department as one of the key areas that need strengthening and suggested the Red Devils should go all out and sign Philips.

The Red Devils will prioritise the transfer for the Leeds star over that of Declan Rice who is valued at a staggering £100m.

Cristiano Ronaldo ready for Newcastle cracker

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ralf Rangnick has been handed a massive boost after Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Man United training after their Carrington Complex was reopened.

United are among a number of Premier League clubs hit by coronavirus cases in recent days, with a section of players and staff returning positive tests.

With the situation dire, the Red Devils were left with no choice but to shut their training base.
