Malik Scott who is the coach of Deontay Wilder has explained that the American was irresponsible defensively which played significant role in his defeat to Tyson Fury.
After his rematch against Tyson Fury in 2022 which he lost, Deontay Wilder immediately activated the trilogy clause with the hope that he would revenge against the Brit.
However, Tyson Fury once again proved difficult for Deontay Wilder as the British world boxing champion defeat the American in the fight staged in Las Vegas.
Deontay Wilder looked determined in the trilogy as he fell Tyson Fury in the 4th round, but the British boxer came back angrily to win in the 11th round.
According to the report on Mirror and World Boxing News, Malik Scott claimed that they have to intensify efforts in working on defensive in camp.
Malik Scott's comment
“We were very irresponsible defensively. We just have to continue to drill defensively.
“Were we working on defence in camp? Tons. Is that going to show in the first fight [since replacing Breland? Absolutely not.
“Could he have been more defensively responsible? Hell yeah, and I can’t wait to get on his case in camp about it. There’s a lot to work on, and he’s receptive to it.”
