The two veteran strikers struck a brilliant combination to down Spurs as they helped United return to winning ways.

This was the first time the duo was starting together for the Red Devils, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to make significant tactical changes to his starting XI.

Solskjaer started with five at the back in the victory in what appeared to be a 5-3-2 formation.

The tactical decision paid off as United tore apart the north Londoners cart home the three points.

Ronaldo struck the opener minutes before the break with a superb finish before he turned provider for Cavani.

The Portuguese's ball sent Cavani clear and he managed to beat Hugo Lloris to double his side's advantage.

Mirror UK now reports the goal was the first time two United players aged over 34 have combined in the Premier League in 11 years.

The last time this happened in the top-flight was back in August 2010 when Paul Scoles set up Ryan Giggs against Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford came off the bench to cap United's win for his side's third, with the result sending the Red Devils to fifth on the Premier League standings.

Ole heaps praise on McTominay

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has singled out Scott McTominay for praise after his side's 3-0 huge win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite Ronaldo being named man of the match for his role in the win, Solskjaer contends McTominay deserves equal recognition.

"That’s the Scott we’ve seen a few times before. He’s had his injury, he’s had his operation this season, but today I thought he was absolutely brilliant," he noted.
