English Premier League Club Southampton Join Chase for Impressive Super Eagles Star

Premier League club Southampton have indicated interest in Super Eagles forward Joe Aribo according to a report cited by Nigerian outlet Complete Sports.

Daily Record are reporting that the Saints are interested in landing the star who has been impressive for Scottish outfit Rangers.

It was gathered that the English club had to send a scout to monitor the player’s performance against Dundee United.

Southampton have already received a number of positive reports on Aribo who has been outstanding for the Blues in the course of this season.

Quite a number of clubs are interested in the 25-year-old as he has already been linked with Brentford, Burnley and former boss Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

The Nigeria international is going into the final 18 months of his Ibrox deal and has yet to sign an extension.

Rangers manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has already said he hopes Rangers can agree a new deal with the Londoner, who came in as a free agent from Charlton Athletic back in 2019.

Osimhen set for AFCON 2022

Meanwhile, Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed that he is fit for the 2022 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon thereby putting an end to speculation about him.

Since Victor Osimhen got injured, there have been serious concerns over his availability for Nigeria at the coming African Cup of Nations considering his superb performances.

Many Nigerian football followers even urged the Nigerian Football Federation to monitor Victor Osimhen closely at Napoli so that he will be able to represent the nation at AFCON.

According to the confirmation by the player himself on his official twitter page, Victor Osimhen explained that he is ready to help Nigeria in the coming African Cup of Nations.

Eguavoen reveals why Iheanacho is struggling

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles handler Augustine Eguavoen has disclosed that Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is struggling because he plays in different positions for club and country.

Iheanacho who plays as a centre forward or supporting striker plays more from the right wing in the national team.

The striker is expected to have grown into a world-beater considering his performance for the Golden Eaglets at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
